Jacky Chio---A Student Who Does Finance Internship

Jacky Chio,22 is a Chinese international student at Cal State Long Beach. His major is business.

He does an Internship at Luchilles where deals with financial solutions.

" I am interested in real estate and also interested in how people can manage their good credit." said Chio.

"My weakness is English. I am Ok everything else," sadi Chio. "When I came to United States for the first time, I got 99% for a Math test. I was pretty excited about that."

He has to pay $1000 for him to do an Internship outside of campus due to his visa status. Since he is not a citizen in America, he is not allowed to work outside of campus owing to the federal law.

"I am going to work for a few years after my graduation and come back to America again. Because I speak both Enlgish and Chinese, I think it is good to be a middle man. That way, I can make more money." said Chio

Casey Farrington---Experiencing an Internship


Casey Farrington, 20 has just finished an Internship today.

Farrington is a Cal State Long Beach student who majors in Print Journalism.
Her Internship was working for the Interscope records, a marketing recording studio.

"I love music," said Farrington. "It was a really good opportunity."

Her job stated from getting coffees, burning CDs, and making CDs.
She also shared her opinions on some productions.
This Internship was unpaid.

"I just randomly found (this job)," said Farrington. "I found this on the Internet. I wrote 12 pages of resume."

In the future, she wants to work for a music magazine. Her fovorite artist is "Yeah, yeah, yeah."

She started job from the end of semester and today was the final day because she is planning to go to Greece taking a semester off.

It'll cost her $11000 and $2000 for the tickets.

"I did not use the school program beacuse they don't have Greek program. This is an outside program. That's why it's so expensive." said Farrington.

Kelly Menjivar---A Student Works for an Elementary School in Long Beach




Kelly Menjivar, 21, is a senior Cal State Long Beach student who majors in Human Development.

She is a bit in a hurry to graduate. Menjivar is going to take a winter session and planning to graduate in Spring.

Menjivar is a TA for Patrick Henry Elementary School. She teaches arithmatics and writing for the first grade. She gets 15 dollars per hour.

"This is not what I am planning to do though. I want to be a physician assistant." said Menjivar.

Cha for Tea---Student's Oasis




Cha for Tea is a restaurant where offers a refreshing cup of tea and foods located at 5720 E 7th Street and 90% of the workers are from Cal State Long Beach and 10% of the workers are from Long Beach City College.


Brian Emerick,22, a film major student at LBCC is the supervisor for Cha for Tea in Long Beach.

"I like the atmospher of this restaurant. And I also like the tea here. I like the green tea ice cream. I recommend crispy chicken rice, too." said Emerick.

Emerick has been working here for one year and 10 months and plans to transfer to Cal State Long Beach.

70% of the customers are from Cal State Long Beach and stundens enjoy the food and tea doing their homework or hanging out with their friends or as a couple.

Using the knowledge of the film study, Emrick made a video commercial that casts are the workers of cha for Tea. Most of the workers at Cha for tea are artistic people who major in Graphic Design, Art, and Music according to Emerick.

"I made it for advertisement. I want to make sure that people watch it."

A Girl from a Small British Island---Isle of Man




She is the only student who speaks English with British accent in my Literary Journalism class.
Elizabeth Cubbon, 19, a Journalism major student is an exchange student from Isle of Man.

Isle of Man, which is rarely heard of, is a tiny island between England and Ireland with 80,058 people.

She does not have a job currently in the U.S.. Besides, she is not supposed to work at outside of campus. She is only allowed to work on campus after getting a social security number because she is an international student.
She gets a grant from the govrnment of the Isle of Man. She gets approximately $10,000 per a yaer. She is a student at Kingston University in London. She applied for the exchange program and studying at Cal State Long Beach was one of the options.

"I like the nice and sunny (climate). I really think (Cal State Long Beach) is a good school and I wanted to be close to the coast. I wanted to see the world."

"The process was complicated. Getting a visa is getting more difficult because of the 9.11."

She arrived in the United States in the end of the August, 2007. She is going to enjoy her campus life at Cal State Long Beach for a yaer.

Getting Tips By Singing---Working at Cold Stone

"Hi-ho, hi-ho, thank you for eating our icecream."

She used to get tips by singing with her co-workers.

Brand Perez, 20, a Printing Journalism major student at Cal State Long Beach used to work at Cold Stone wheh she was 16-19 years old.

"I worked there because I want to run a bakery when I am retired. I mean when I get to 60 years old or something. I thought it would be good to know how the business works." asid Perez.

She is interseted in Bakery influenced by her mother.

Before, she gets retired, she wants to be a sports writer.

Ever since she was seven years old, she always wanted to be a writer.
"When a teacher students to draw, I started writing a story, not drawing. I did not want to draw. I wanted to write. I was getting in a trouble." said Perez.

Perez quit the job at Cold Stone since she moved from San Diego. This semseter is her frist semseter.
